We are located at the gateway of the majestic Trinity Alps
Hwy. 299 Junction City Calif. Trinity County

Canyon Creek Trailhead is the most popular trailhead into the Trinity Alps. A 7 mile hike leads to Canyon Creek Lakes, passing several waterfalls on the way.
The trailhead is reached from the end of Canyon Creek Road which joins Hwy. 299 in Junction City, 12 miles east of Big Flat.

Hobo Gulch Trailhead--Initially follows the North Fork of the Trinity. There are a couple of short, day hikes, one, a 3/4 mile hike to Backbone Creek, and the other a 5 mile easy to moderate trek to Rattlesnake Creek. These trails pass through forests of Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine, Madrone, Oak and Dogwood. A 19 mile hike leads to Grizzly Lake at the base of Thomson Peak. A 70 foot waterfall drops from it's outlet. A remote Class V run on the North Fork Trinity which is not run commercially begins at the Hobo Gulch Campground.
Turn off of Hwy 299 by the Pigeon Pt. put in at Helena (East Fork Rd.) and after around 4 miles, bear to the left on a marked Forest Service Road.
Weaverville Basin Trail System--Easy access trails from Weaverville.

Shorter Trails

Big French Creek Trailhead, 3 miles long--a mile up Big French Creek Rd. Follows Big French Creek into the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area.
Burnt Ranch Falls Trail, 1 mile. Leaves from the bottom of Burnt Ranch USFS Campground
Gray's Falls Trail, 1/3 mile. Leaves from the Day Use area of Gray's Falls USFS Campground. Leads to Gray's Falls or a small beach.

Bicycling

bulletTake Corral Bottom Rd., which leaves Hwy. 299 across from the Big Bar Ranger Station to the top of the ridge, turn to the right and go as far as you wish--great vistas.
